Dragon’s Den Showcase

S2 pupils battled it out at a Dragon’s Den event where they had to pitch an idea to Ayrshire businesses for exciting new food ventures at Lochshore.

Representatives from Collins Aerospace, AtkinsRealis, GE Caledonian and the Ayrshire Chamber had the hard task of judging the pitches which ranged from an axe throwing festival to a Mango Smoothie van and the winning pitch – a Mexican food van created by Marley Gartland, Colten Kennedy and Archie Scott.

For weeks the S2 pupils were busy putting together their pitches for the Dragon’s Den entrepreneurs to judge – their remit was a new food or event to be held at Lochshore to help encourage visitors to the area.

Skills for Work teacher Mrs Eck said: “We were delighted to welcome employers from local businesses and they all took their roles as dragons very seriously which was great.

“I must say every pupil put their heart and soul into their pitches and I am very proud of them all for their imaginative ideas, their focus and their professionalism on the day.

“The pupils all displayed their skills in teamwork, communication, creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills for their designs for pop-up food and drink stalls and activities to bring more visitors to Lochshore.

“A huge congratulations to them all and we are now using the feedback from the Dragons to expand this task next year.”

After all the hard work it was time for everyone to tuck into some delicious French pastries thanks to Pascal Eck from Kaffeteria in Glasgow.
