Bonfire night is a fun time where we all get together and have fun. Along with all the fun comes major risks. Here is ways to stay safe this bonfire night and have only a fun time.
1. Go to an organised event
Having a celebration in your own garden is a fun way to celebrate. However this can pose much more danger compared to an organised event. Organised events have been meticulously planned to circumvent any and all danger. They use high quality fireworks and keep crowds back at a safe distance to keep everyone safe. Organised bonfire events are a great place to go as the bonfire is made with only stuff that should be in a bonfire, which evades any chance of stuff spurting out from the fire and onto someone.
2. Sparkler safety
Sparklers are a cool way to enjoy this special night. Many people use sparklers to do fun activities such as writing their own names in the air, making fun and awesome wavy shapes and so many more actions. However, with all this fun comes major danger as sparklers can reach up to 650°C! In perspective, you would normally cook your food at 180°C. This is unimaginably hot and definitely not something you would want to touch!
3. Keep a safe distance
It’s important to stay at a safe distance from both the bonfire and the fireworks. Even if you are at an organised event, things can sometimes go wrong. Fireworks can misfire or sparks can fly further than expected. Make sure you always follow the instructions given by the event organisers and listen to any safety announcements. Never try to get too close to the fire or pick up fireworks that have not gone off properly.
4. Dress Appropriately
Wearing the right clothes can help keep you safe. Avoid wearing loose or highly flammable clothing, like scarves or flowing jackets, as they can easily catch fire. It’s also a good idea to wear shoes that cover your feet completely, so you don’t get burned by sparks or embers from the bonfire.
5. Keep water or a fire extinguisher nearby
Whether you are at home or at an organised event, it’s always smart to have a bucket of water, a hose, or a fire extinguisher close by. This way, if anything goes wrong, you can quickly put out a small fire before it becomes dangerous.
By following these tips, you can enjoy Bonfire Night safely and have a really fun time with friends and family!
