Primary staff swept in and saved the day last week to give pupils a week of adventure to remember when their Arran trip was called off.

On Monday the excited Primary seven pupils made their way to Ardrossan Ferry Terminal only to find out that a mechanical problem meant there were no sailings to the island.

Rather than returning to the classroom, the P7 pupils were treated to a hot chocolate and a walk around the terminal at Ardrossan. Determined not to let the pupils down they headed back to Garnock Campus to have a fun afternoon.

On Tuesday they enjoyed a movie day in the auditorium with hot chocolate and pizza to tuck into.

It was time to get outdoors on Wednesday as the primary seven pupils headed to Lochshore to take part in a den making session which saw them toast marshmallows round the campfire too.

The week of Garnock adventure continued with a visit to Glasgow’s Riverside Museum before heading back to campus for a pool party in the afternoon.

Headteacher Mr MacDougall said: “I am extremely proud of the resilience our P7 pupils have shown in the face of such disappointment. In response, our whole Campus community — staff and learners — have gone above and beyond to support them, creating a range of engaging and memorable experiences including orienteering, den building, hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows, pizza, an inflatable fun run in the swimming pool, bowling, a museum visit and even a dedicated photo website to capture it all.

“The response from our Campus has been immense, and I am incredibly proud of the kindness and determination shown by everyone involved. Thank you to our P7 learners, and to our wider community, for lifting one another up when it mattered most.”
