S2 pupils had a fantastic time using their French language skills in an Interdisciplinary learning (IDL) project between the English, Media and Languages Department and the Home Economics Department at the school. The pupils learned all the food ingredients and the equipment required to make French Toast in French before heading to the kitchens of the Home Economics Department to create their French Toast delights. The recipe was given in both French and English just incase some people forgot a word or two. Ms McCafferty of the Languages Department said: “It was great to see the pupils use their new vocabulary skills to prepare their French Toast, they all did a great job!”
Here’s the recipe in English and French for you to give it a go!
English
- One slice of bread
- One egg
- A pinch of cinnamon
En Francais
- Une tranche de pain
- Un oeuf
- Et de la cannelle
How to make:
- Whisk together in a bowl the egg, bread and cinnamon
- Take from the bowl and place in the frying pan
- Cook for two to three minutes at a medium heat then flip it over and it is ready to serve.
