S4 Drama students took to the stage on Monday to perform their original play, The Catfishers, to an audience of teachers and fellow pupils.

The play was devised and developed entirely by the pupils as part of their National 5 Drama coursework. The story follows an online friendship which takes a manipulative and potentially dangerous turn, exploring important themes around internet safety and the risks of trusting people online.

The pupils were involved in every aspect of the production. As well as writing and developing the script, they took on a range of backstage responsibilities, including working on the lighting and sound. This gave them the opportunity to demonstrate not only their acting and creative skills, but also their ability to work as a team to bring their ideas to life on stage.

The performance was a great opportunity for the students to showcase the hard work and creativity that has gone into their National 5 coursework. The Catfishers also highlighted an important issue that many young people can relate to, reminding the audience to think carefully about who they trust and communicate with online.
