Behaviour specialist Brian Donnelly is someone who likes to be busy. He doesn’t mind working every day offering support and guidance to families and young people work on building positive relationships with each other.
Brian is an independent consultant who set up Respect Me Scotland, offering support to schools and families who may be struggling with communicating with each other, this would involved visiting families to help them talk things through and come up with ways to work better together.
He is also working with schools, including Garnock Community Campus to work with pupils and staff on good ways to boost communication and in cases, help when communication has broken down.
Every Wednesday Brian is on campus to work with staff and pupils across the primary and secondary and so far he is receiving positive feedback from everyone he has met.
“I have been listening to the children in the primary and the young people in the secondary and so far it has all been positive,” said Brian.
“At the moment my role involves me trying to understand the community at Garnock Campus and it is unique, there are a lot of people working together for the benefit of this campus.”
Brian is focusing now on helping young people build resilience across the campus.
He said: “There is a definite readiness to learn and now I am working to help change the mindset of those students who feel they are struggling with subjects to help them realise they can work on this and build resilience.”
When he is not working Brian is a devoted football fan and his passion for Celtic Football Club saw him write their Children Wellbeing Policy which was a proud moment in his career.
And when he’s not at Parkhead this proud dad can be found playing his guitar.
