Are you interested in a new sport? Perhaps interested in learning some self-defence? Well. Well, I have the sport for you! Dalry Karata Club would like to invite you to their display night, on Thursday 19th December at 7:30pm, in Dalry Primary School.
Our karate club that trains every Tuesday and Thursday night, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. We are hoping to encourage people to join our club by having a display. Our display night will include introduction to katas, basic techniques and bunkai. You will also see katas being preformed, and possible sparring.
Kata are formalised sequences of movements put together to represent various offensive and defensive techniques, strategies and postures involving striking, blocking, wrestling and grappling, throwing, sweeping, destabilising etc. Kata is generally regarded as the art form to karate but its practice extends well beyond an art form. The application of the techniques within kata is known as ‘Bunkai’. Bunkai makes you think about what each move within a kata is doing. Kata a detailed choreographed pattern of martial arts movements.
Karate training develops agility, strength and speed, allowing for fast and effective techniques while also improving muscle tone and endurance. Working both the hands and feet, and left and right sides equally, it develops mental and physical coordination, as well as flexibility.
So come on down to our display night and see if you learn something new!
