Mrs. Robertson may be Garnock’s newest music teacher, but she certainly isn’t new to the music industry. She happens to be quite experienced with producing and playing instruments. We caught up with her to ask her a few questions.
Q: Can you tell us why you became a teacher?
A: I’m very passionate about music and what opportunities are created by being interested in music. I also enjoy being able to share my past experiences that I’ve had because of music.
Q: What has been your highlight so far of your teaching career?
A: Being able to teach here. I haven’t been a teacher for long and being able to teach here has been a really positive experience.
Q: What do you like to do to unwind when not in the classroom?
A: I do enjoy a bit of trashy TV, but I do also lift weights. My biggest goal when it comes to that is to deadlift 100kg. I also love autumn, especially when I can relax by lighting an autumn candle.
Q: What do you love about being a part of the Garnock community?
A: I’m actually not from the Garnock area, but I really love how everyone wants to be involved here and that’s really inspiring.
Q: What is your proudest pupil moment?
A: At another school last year, I had a first year who was a wonderful pianist but his parents were completely deaf. The boy ended up winning young musician of the year, and I felt extremely proud of him with his parents cheering him on in the audience.
