This debate has been going on for years, with many people young and old bickering and debating on which is better: The horror and ghostly night of All Hallows Eve, or the Festive and Jolly day of Christmas!

Firstly, Halloween is in the perfect season, Autumn. The weather is the right mix of cold and warm, and the scenery is beautiful, which makes it the perfect time to go out on walks whilst also suitable to stay home with a warm drink. To add to that, Halloween is an amazing time to express yourself in creative ways, such as socialising at Parties, or dressing up as classic horror characters or your favourite characters. Unlike Christmas which tends to always need to be festive, Halloween doesn’t have to be scary, it’s about going out and celebrating the night. Also, some of the best movies to date are horror movies such as Halloween, IT, and Alien.

To add onto this, Halloweens history is rich with culture! Halloween came to be what it is today after originating as Samhain, an ancient celebration done by many Celtic regions such as Ireland, Scotland, and The Isle of Man, though many Modern Pagans still celebrate it as Samhain in their own way. During Samhain, people would dress up in scary attire and light fires together to ward off evil spirits, due to the belief that the veil between the living world and the otherworld – Or the land of the dead, Afterlife, etc. – was thinner than ever, and dressing up would allow them to blend in and prevent lingering spirits.

So, to conclude, I believe Halloween is much superior to Christmas, and I hope this article has persuaded you! Happy Halloween!
