Capercaillie 40th Anniversary

I am a keen musician and for me, with bagpipes being my instrument of choice, I have always been a huge fan of Scottish music and bands. One of my favourite folk legends Capercaillie, celebrate 40 years together this year. Although the band is well known and respected in Scotland, they received global recognition after recording the stunning Aileen Duinn. For me, it will always be their first song, ‘S’ och a Dhomhnaill Oig Ghaolaich’, that simply blew me away and made me a lifelong fan of their music. It was also inspiring to know that the founder member of the band, Donald Shaw, originally played the tin whistle before learning the piano, accordion and the synthesizer. This has helped me in my own musical journey, and I am now hosting a jam music club at Garnock every Wednesday lunchtime in music – feel free to come along and play some music together, who knows, we might even play some Capercaille.
